Description
The Melissa combines a 1950’s shirt dress shape with a hand-finished batik floral leaf print. We love the button-up front, longer length, relaxed collar a pretty tie waist and pockets. This pink and teal Batik design was created in our seaside studio, so you won’t find it on garments made by anyone else.Gabriela is 5’8" and is wearing a size 8Elle is 5’9" and is wearing a size 16100% ViscoseMachine washable (delicate)Neck to hem length for a size 12: 119cmShirt collarSemi fittedButton down frontWaist tieShort sleevesWhat is Batik?Batik is a technique of wax-resist dyeing applied to cloth. Batik is made by printing the wax design onto fabric using a copper stamp called a cap. The applied wax design resists dyes and therefore allows the artisan to colour selectively by soaking the cloth in one colour, removing the wax with boiling water, and repeating if multiple colours are desired. Due to the artisan nature of this process every Batik printed item differs slightly, making it unique and extra special.
